Using the Erasmus+ funding program to strengthen cooperation and networks among young activists? Sounds far-fetched, but it’s possible! Dedicate to the European Youth Week we’ll demonstrate this on May 3 at 1pm in Lyon at the 5 Rue Hector Berlioz, Villeurbanne, France. The Ban Fossil Ads Gathering 2026 is taking place there.
We’ve developed a learning workshop for Erasmus+ grant applications, focusing on youth participation projects. It consists of eight 60-minute sessions. The idea is that you first read the indicated pages in the linked Erasmus+ program guide and then answer the questions. Ideally, you should complete the workshop together with the other members of your project group who want to submit the application. Over the eight sessions, you can work together to understand the Erasmus+ funding program and develop proposal concepts. You’ll probably need another one or two weekends to actually write your application.
As part of the youth participation project „Whose streets? Our streets! Questioning advertising and access to public space,“ a German-French project week took place in Berlin from March 20-27, 2026. Together with the Paris-based organization „Résistance à l’Agression Publicitaire (RAP),“ we explored the diverse impacts of advertising, including discrimination. We also met with politicians and the Berlin Ad-Free initiative and brainstormed creative ways to use the vacant advertising spaces in public areas once they were no longer used for advertising.
„Whose streets? Our streets!“: Under this motto, young activists from Paris and Berlin met for a week at Wannsee to discuss advertising in public spaces. After workshops and discussions at the Berlin House of Representatives, the Franco-German networking meeting culminated on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in joint interventions in public spaces. „At Hermannplatz and in front of the Arena in Friedrichshain, we covered digital advertising displays with sticky notes bearing slogans against advertising,“ admits Jerome Bàr, spokesperson for the activists. „We also drew attention to the Berlin Ad-Free Citizens‘ Initiative with a performance featuring singing and homemade masks!“
Today is the final stretch and highlight of our EU-funded Franco-German project week, „Whose streets? Our streets! Questioning advertising in public spaces„: We’re heading into the city center to interact with advertising installations through subversive performances in public spaces. A participant’s report:
In our joint German-French project week, „Whose streets? Our streets!“ on this penultimate day of the program we are preparing the materials for tomorrow’s interventions and performances in public spaces with a great deal of initiative, craftsmanship, and artistic skill. Nothing can go wrong, because we have a fantastic master plan. And we had workshops on photography and press work. Here is a photo report from one of the participants:
In our project-week „Whose streets? Our streets!“ we were kindly received today by two members of parliament at the Berlin Abgeordnetenhaus. We discussed the regulation of advertising in public spaces with Dr. Efler (The Left Party) and Julian Schwarze (The Green Party). Afterwards, we had a tour of the historic building. A participant’s report:
Our Franco-German project week, „Whose streets? Our streets! Questioning advertising in public spaces,“ was a whirlwind today. It was a skills-sharing and workshop day! We made our own posters, created foil graffiti, learned about legal issues surrounding street art, and I’m sure I’ve forgotten something. Here’s a report from one of the participants:
Our EU-funded French-German project week, „Whose streets? Our streets! Questioning advertising in public spaces,“ has finally begun! All participants are gathered at the conference center. We’re playing icebreaker games, our partner organization, Résistance à l’Agression Publicitaire (RAP), has prepared a presentation on advertising, and in the afternoon we’re heading downtown to the Berlin Global exhibition. One participant shares her experience:
